I had an unit up for rent with the hotpoint oven in it, and it was off an I could smell gas so I called the gas comp. and they came out and said the gas was leaking under the oven down by the Valve, oven safety will this leak gas if the oven is off ? you can turn it on and it works fine but you shut it off and an hour later you can smell gas? if I put a new one in do you think this mite be the problem?
It could be the valve or possibly one of the lines themselves. Your gas company should have had a gas sniffer to locate exactly where the leak was. You can also use soapy water. but it takes a while that way.
