We have a very old electric stove (Hotpoint). It was working fine, the burners were getting red hot, we cooked a ham, and then a few hours later it would only get warm. The burners, broil, and bake coils were all kind of hot, but they didn’t “glow”, and there is no way it would cook anything…maybe just warm it up. Does anyone know what this could be or if I could even get parts for a stove that’s probably 20 years old? Thanks so much in advance for any help!
Do the stove top elements work OK?
If not you probably have a power problem.
Try flipping the breaker off/on slowly a couple times, sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker.
If this does nothing, check the voltage at the plug
L1 to L2 should be 240 volts
L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral, both should be 120 volts.
If OK
Unplug the unit and check the wires at the terminal strip in the machine to make sure none are loose or burned out
If OK
Check the power at the terminal strip.
