We removed our old Kitchenaid dishwasher about 10 years ago and it is stored in our basement. Is it safe to re-install it? I heard the seals dry out causing it to leak. Is that true? And, if so, is it easy/inexpensive to replace the seals? Thanks.

Yes seal etc. can dry out over time.
Usually they can be replaced at a reasonable cost.

More likely that seals in the motor/pump would dry out.
Before running the unit (turning the water on) add a couple quarts of hot water to it so that the pump does not run when it is dry.
