High Limit Switch

Brand:Dacor
Model Number:ECS130
Main Symptom: Bake Element Not Heating
What happens & when: When turned on the oven takes 50 minutes to reach 350°. Bake element tested good. I removed the high limit switch from the oven. When using a multimeter to test the uninstalled switch, what should a reading be if the switch is good? On your Manufacturer’s Part Number: DE81-04971A, the red square button appears to be flush with the black semi-circle bumpers on either side. If the switch has failed, does that red square button pop up? I appreciate the assistance.

Error Code (if any): None.
Parts or tests already tried: Bake Element.

If the high-limit switch has failed it should read open all the time, but in most case that switch being bad would cause the oven not to heat at all. That button is just a reset button, it may not change position when the switch has failed.

This is more likely to be a bad broil element that isn’t cycling on to assist with preheating, bad wiring between the element and the control, or a failed relay on the main control board.

Thank you Rory. It is helpful to know the reset button on the switch may not change positions. The broil element is working, so I’m looking at the wiring between the element and the control or the failed relay on the main control board.
