Hello,
The outer glass part of our oven door just fell off a few days ago. It looks like there was some sort of a glue holding and we need to know what to use to put it back together (and where to get it). We’d appreciate any help.
Thanks!
Hi
I am not sure what country you are in, but you do need a special glue for your oven, that will withstand high temperatures. If in the UK there is a company called Oven Door Glue that provides a kit with the high temperature adhesive for oven doors, as well as a cleaning pad to prepare the surface for the glue.
If you are not in the UK, look out for a High Temperature silicone glue that can withstand temperatures up to 300C.
Using the wrong glue will cause problems as the glue must remain slightly flexible (as silicone does), so that the bond does not break as the glass and metal expand at different rates as they heat up. Ensure that all of the old silicone is removed and the surface is clean and grease free.
With the right glue the repair should be relatively easy and will last.
Good luck.
