My dryer is a pain. Old dryer would not start. Landlord said the outlet was fine and the dryer was getting power from the cord. So after replacing door switch, start switch, thermal fuse, temp control and fuse (located at top and bottom of where the heating element is) it still never started. So I buy one similar to my at an estate sale last week and come to find out my old cord was bad and now both new and old dryers would “work.” However neither of them will heat. I have also bought a heating element and interchanged all the parts in every way imaginable. Still not heating. Now I’m out over $200 with 2 dryers that don’t heat! Any suggestions or ideas?

Sounds like you don’t have 240vac at receptacle. Power at receptacle consists of L-1, L-2 and Neutral. If you have L-1 and Neutral, dryer motor and timer will operate but heat will not. Sounds like your missing the L-2 leg. Could be panel breaker needs to be reset or there is a fault at dryer receptacle.

Eric, where is the panel breaker on the dryer? Or how do I fix dryer receptacle?

I’m talking about the home electrical panel breaker that feeds the dryer receptacle. You need to have an electrician check that out for you and do any necessary repairs.
