I have a washer that completely stopped with no sound when turned on. I read a post on removing the agitator and seeing if the transmission shift turns when turned on, it does not. I watched this sites videos on removing the motor and transmission, which made it easy. With the machine in the upright position I let the electrical wires hang out the bottom backside. I connected the electrical wires to the motor laying behind the machine on the floor and turn the spin cycle on. The motor did not spin. Is this a valid test? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
If you did not by pass the lid switch then the motor would not have engaged. The motors in these machines do fail, but it is pretty rare. If the machine stopped after the wash cycle the first thing to check is the lid switch.
If that is not the problem tell us in more detail about where the machine does not turn on and if it happens in all cycles.
Thanks
