Trying to replace the upper oven hidden bake element. I have reviewed the video online, removed the oven and all the shields, accessed to the element but cannot figure out a way to remove the element. There is to much stuff in the way. the video shows to bend tabs up, ther are no tabs on this unit. There is a horizontal squirrel cage with transformer mounted on the end, it does have screws holding it in but the screws are pointed skyward and cant be accessed with screw driver. Even beyond the fan there are still other pieces of metal that prevent or make difficult element removal. all help appreciated. If anyone has done this particular unit before I think they know what I mean. Thanks
PS-There was a smal flat plate with a small hole drilled in it included with the element, about 1"x5" had number W112558807, don’t know what that was for either but maybe a clue???
Could you access it if you remove the back cover if your stove had one?
On the KitchenAid KEBC208KSS0 double wall oven, the bake element is hidden underneath the oven cavity floor. You do not remove it from inside the oven cavity like a conventional exposed element.
Hidden Bake Element Removal
Disconnect power
Turn the double oven breaker OFF.
Verify the oven is dead before working on it. This is a 240 VAC circuit.
Pull the oven out of the cabinet
Open the oven door(s).
Remove the mounting screws securing the oven frame to the cabinet.
Carefully slide the oven forward. This unit is very heavy, so use two people or an appliance lift.
Remove the appropriate rear covers
The hidden bake element is accessed from the rear/side of the oven chassis, not through the porcelain oven floor.
Remove the rear sheet-metal panels necessary to expose the bake-element enclosure and wiring.
Locate the bake element terminals
Find the two wires connected to the bake element.
Take a picture before disconnecting them.
Pull the wires from the element terminals.
Remove the element retaining hardware
Remove the screws securing the hidden bake element/enclosure to the chassis.
Depending on which oven you’re servicing, additional insulation shields or side/rear brackets may need to come off.
Slide the element out
The element slides out of the channel underneath the oven cavity.
Don’t try to pry up or remove the porcelain oven floor from inside the cavity.
Before replacing it
With the wires disconnected, check the element with your meter.
A good bake element should show continuity, typically somewhere around 15–30 Ω. More importantly:
Terminal → terminal = continuity/resistance
Either terminal → metal chassis = OL/open
If it’s open terminal-to-terminal, replace it. If either terminal shows continuity to ground, replace it.

For KitchenAid KEBC208KSS0, the upper oven bake element is hidden under the oven floor, so it comes out from inside the upper oven after removing the bottom panel.
Upper Bake Element Removal
Turn power OFF at the breaker.
This is a 240-volt circuit. Verify the oven is dead before working on it.
Remove the upper oven racks.
Remove the upper oven bottom panel.
Look along the rear edge of the oven floor for the retaining screws.
Remove the screws.
Lift the rear of the bottom panel slightly, then pull/lift the panel out.
Remove the bake-element cover/shield.
With the oven floor removed, you’ll see the hidden bake element area.
Remove the screws securing the metal shield over the element.
Remove the bake element mounting screws.
Remove the screws/brackets holding the element to the oven chassis.
Carefully pull the element forward.
Only pull it far enough to expose the two wire connections.
Don’t let the wires fall back through the openings. I like to clip or tape them to the oven wall before disconnecting them.
Disconnect both element wires and remove the element.
Before replacing it
With power OFF and both wires disconnected, check across the two element terminals with your meter.
Continuity / measurable resistance: element is electrically intact.
OL / open: bake element is bad.
Also check each terminal to the metal element sheath. Both should read OL. Any continuity to the sheath means the element is grounded and should be replaced.
Installation is the reverse. Make sure both electrical connectors are tight before reinstalling the shields and oven floor.
Important: If you remove the oven floor and don’t see accessible element connections, don’t start removing the entire upper oven. Tell me what you see or send me a picture—I can walk you through the exact next panel to remove.
This is my friends oven and i’m not there till tomorrow. Since it’s friday, i’ll relay what I know and saw. I looked before I began job and didnt see screws, but will look again. I did pull oven and shields from the rear and even removed 2 screws holding element in place. I believe those screws would not have been accessible to me from inside the open oven floor. Could there be an overlooked alternative? In the meantme I’m having my friend look for the screws in rear of oven floor. Thanks
I wouldn’t call it an access panel. Nothing like I see on the videos. More like dismantling a large part of the oven. The horizontal squirrel cage is the most obvious block, and the screws to undo it all all facing skyward, unable to be reasonably unscrewed. Beyond that there are still panels blocking. I would think the element would have a reasonable removal and replacement

I have a feeling that flat piece of metal included with element is a hint to replacement. Like something has to be cut away and then replaced by this piece
