The handle on my GE Profile microwave broke. I called GE and they gave me the part # I needed to order. I ordered and received in from Appliance Pros. When I received it and went to install it I noticed there weren’t any screws on the door to remove.
I called GE back and was then informed that I cannot replace it and needed to have one of their service people come out and do it.
I am just trying to confirm that his is the case before I return the part and buy a new microwave.
Thanks in advance.
Here is the breakdown of your microwave---->Model JVM1660WB01
Item #11 on the door assy needs to be removed to get to the screws for the handle.
When you open the door, you will see a plastic piece that goes around the door and the latches, about an inch wide all the way around, you remove this by sticking something small like a knife in between that and the outer side, carefully seperating it away, be sure not to pull to hard or you will break it. Once removed you can replace the handle, and that piece will simply snap back on.
Thank you for the quick response. I will look at it tonight when I get home. I though that might be the case but didn’t want to do more damage.
Thanks again.
