Our GE Over-the-range microwave’s handle broke few months ago on the bottom end. Using some glue, we were able to fix it. But this morning, the entire handle came off and in the process damaged the area where the screws get fastened.
The outer door frame is also cracked due to the heat from the stove below the microwave.
Is it easy / safe to replace the entire door assembly (considering that the existing screw threads are damaged) or replace just the handle and some of the door parts like the outer door frame etc.
Please also let me know whether this requires professional repair service or I can do it myself.

I also have that problem…I just ordered the door handle but I suspect that it is a bigger problem than that…Stevde
Have attached the pictures. Again the Model number of the Microwave is - JVM1870BFO2
I was wondering whether I should change the entire Door Assembly that includes the Handle and the door components (Drawing Reference #110 - as per the Exploded GE Parts diagram - attached as a pdf).
How easy / difficult would be to fix this ?. My whole idea of buying the door assembly was to have an easier installation and also bcos the difference was just $40.
Can you please let me know whether it is easy to remove the old door assembly and put the new one in ? (FYI, my earlier posting had the pictures).
Could you please tell me or send any video clipping (if you have any) to replace the Microwave door assembly. I also would request you to confirm whether I need to do any leakage test.
I have a 13 month old GE microwave oven JVM 1540DM2WW my wife noticed the door was cracked on the outside underneath the window, then we noticed it was cracking on the inside bottom of the door. Also the handle looks like its coming apart. Called GE and ordered a new door 65.00 including shipping. They obviously have a materials problem with this product, its like the plastic they are using cannot take the heat from the stove below. Just cheap.
