Brand: HAIER Model Number: ESAQ406P Main Symptom: control buttons do not work What happens & when:
When I plug in the AC, the power and timer buttons work (I think the filter reset, too), but the mode, fan, and temperature up/down buttons do not. There is no beep, either, when I press them. What could be the problem? Thanks!

PS: I can’t find the remote anywhere, so I can’t test if that works .
This could be a locked interface or a control failure. What LEDs are illuminated on the user interface? Do you feel the buttons press in like the power and timer buttons or do they feel like there is less resistance? Unfortunately, it looks like the user interface is no longer being produced by the manufacturer. However, I do see that the remote control is a part that is still in production. Here are links to the user interface control and the remote control information pages just in case.
When I turn it on, the LEDs show the current state (quiet and e-save). Pressing any of the buttons feel the same, just timer and power gives a little beep and work, the others don’t beep and don’t work.
The good news is that I found the remote! And it controls everything correctly. So, fixing the buttons on the unit is not that high priority, though it’d be good if it’d be possible. So if you think it’s possible, let me know.
It sounds like the user interface control 0011800407 has failed. Unfortunately, the user interface control has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available.
