Griddle will not heat. No signs of anything wrong, just stopped working one day. How can I test the infinite switch(correct name?) that turns the griddle on? How can I test the electric gas control valve? How can I test the thermostat?
Most likely the problem is a bad igniter (#44 on the diagram).
Check for 120 VAC to the igniter while the control calls for heat. Replace the igniter if the voltage reading is good.

Is there an easy way to get to the igniter? It seems to be mounted behind the front panel that has all of the valves and piping in front of it?
The diagram shows part #44 goes with the grill option. Part #51 goes with the griddle? If this is true, I would be happy, as it is in stock and it is $60 cheaper.
Sorry, my mistake. It is the griddle, the igniter is different and it is more than $60 cheaper.
I believe it can be accessed from the top by removing the grease catch tray and the griddle can.

Gene,
The grease catch is removable, but there is a welded plate that is part of the griddle underneath it. Any other ideas?
Unfortunately there is no service manual available but according to the diagram the griddle can (#53) should be removable too.
