Getting error codes On Maytag Meptune FL

Looking for what buttons to push on control panel to show possible error codes.

Machine fills, then just sits…
Try to set machine to drain filled water and won’t pump.
Door lock works, just pulled pump, checked for obstructions, only found rubber check valve in outlet sitting jabberwalked (crooked in end of pump outlet).
Don’t know where to go from here. Machine has been fine til now and is in good shape. All other parts inside (underneath) look good.

Is this a control board problem (it was replaced about 8 years ago).

Any help is appreciated.

Bill

Need to get laundry done - no facility close by.

Okay you are going to need to download the Maytag Neptune MAH 3000 manual which has the service manual for your model in the back despite the fact that it is not listed in the table of contents. See if this site will let you do so.

MAYTAG MAH3000 SERVICE MANUAL Pdf Download.

Then start with the pressure switch as that could be the problem. But you should know you are very near, maybe past, the useful life of this model.

First, thanks for the response and link.
I’ve gone thru the manual and have not seen a way to access diagnostic codes thru the control panel. I somehow remember the guy I bought it from doing this.
I will check out the pressure switch first, but don’t believe that’s the problem. Then I will start in with checking the electrical as indicated in the troubleshooting chart.

Take a look at page 2-15 in the service manual. That section tells you how to put it into service/test mode and generate codes and do all sorts of diagnostics.

Just looked. Section 2 ends at page 14. There is no page 15. In fact page 14 has nothing on it.

PS We are still talking MAH3000 service manual?

Just tested pump out of Machine with 120V. Pump turns just fine. Can’t find how to test pressure switch mounted on pump. (5 pin connector)

Ok, for some reason the manual you downloaded is not complete. Unlike almost all other Maytag manuals the ones for the Neptune are generally available at no cost on the net. See if you can locate one that is complete.

After looking for a couple of hours I found three different websites offering the service manual. After viewing all three - the results were the same …
Chapter 2 ends with page 13 (even though there is a page 14 with nothing on it).
Anyway I figured the button sequence to open up the diagnostics and I’m going to reinstall the pump and give the diagnostics a try.
I’ll update the thread when I’m done.

Last codes read were 6-motor locked and 62 speed indication error.
Following some logic - probability of failure is the motor controller much more likely than the motor.
Ordered the motor controller, replaced it, ran diagnostics again and motor worked. Tried a regular load and all is good. Been 8 loads later and still good.

One question- On the package the part came in has a note outside stating “Return to Parts Distributor for Core Charge Refund”. What does this mean? Is there a core charge involved, and if so, what is the return procedure?

It would only make sense to return failed parts for repair and resale.

It sounds like you will get a credit for the bad parts, similar to when you return a brake caliper to the auto parts store after you have replaced it.

If you bought from this site you can call them for clarification. If you did not, then you will have to deal with whomever you did buy from.

I DID purchase the control board from APP (this site). I also called and was told they don’t know so try contacting Whirlpool. Seems APP should know about this by now. I can’t believe I’m the first to have this situation.

Bill

Well that is interesting. People like myself who respond on this site are volunteers and are independent of APP so we cannot speak for them. But this seems odd since you got the part from APP and the notice was inside of it. I can only think that maybe APP did not know the notice was in there. Maybe it is something new and something that can be resolved with the parts distributor.

Let us know if you get any resolution and don’t hesitate to go back to APP if you want to.
