Main Symptom: We lost the screws that attach the drum to the deflector and the bearing assembly. We tried to use some bought from the hardware store which created a thumping and obviously did not work. What screws do we need to order? Please keep in mind that this dryer is very old. Also any advice as to getting it all aligned properly is appreciated.
The only screws I can find that are used with the drum are in the following link. As far as lining properly, the flat parts can be held in place with duct tape while the drum is on its back. This will allow it to be placed with the front of the drum face down to align the bearing. Once the bearing is aligned, it can be secured in place using duct tape as well. This should allow the screws to be used to secure everything together. Once everything is secure, verify all tape is removed and once verified, the drum should be good for installation.
