Hi,
I have 2 issues with my range. One has been going on for a long time and the other has just happened.
-
The oven will not lite. Nothing happenes when you turn the knob to turn on the gas. I do not smell gas nor do I hear anything. It just sits there.
-
On the range. If I turn the know to turn on the burner it will just click for a long time (1 minute or more) than it may or may not lite. I can see a little spark trying to ignite. If I turn the knob to high without trying to ignite and let it set for about 30 seconds and then ignite it than it will start the flame. This is for all the burners. It seems that I used to not have to do this. Is this normal.
Thanks Philip

If the oven is not lighting, most likely the igniter is bad. For the XL44 the part number is WB13K21. This site sells them for around $30. They are double or triple in cost directly from GE or a local parts store. Even if the igniter is glowing, doesn’t mean it’s not bad. Enough current has to pass through it to allow the safety valve to open.
For your burners, try a cleaner like this:

The aluminum piece below the round disks has holes all around and a hole near the sparker that often needs to be reamed out.
