GE Washing Machine Control Assembly fried

My washing machine quit the other night, smoking behind the control panel and smelling like melted plastic. I opened up the control panel and discovered a burnt circuit board. Looking up the part it appears I must order the complete control assembly ($100-150). If I replace this could there be some other problem that will fry the new board?

Thanks for any help,
Gopher

Gopher,

You were right, the whole control assembly has to be replaced. It’d hard to say what cause it to burn. You can buy it from Appliance Parts Pros for only $95.10

  • The part number for the control assembly is AP3892692

Did you replace the circuit board? Did you have any other issues after that?
