GE washer will not agitate or spin

just got the machine running. motor was replaced a few years ago and has an external capacitor. if i removed the belt, the motor ran. even the slightest load on the belt and the motor tried to start but did not run.

this seemed to be a capacitor problem. i found one of the 2 wires to the capacitor did not have a good connection inside the wire plug. installed a new plug with a soldered rather than crimp connection, problem solved. glad i did not order a new motor or call a service tech.

Thanks for the info. I have found an unusually large number of connection problems with GE machines, so this information should be very helpful to those who watch this Forum.

GE washer hear motor but wont spin. at first tub would overflow on super load.

Hi Gary

Please start a new thread, and describe in detail what your machine is doing from the start of the process and someone should be able to help you.

Thanks
