Hi, Our problem started like many others. The washer would not enter the drain/spin cycle.
Some troubleshooting found that there was no power for the drain pump coming from the board. So, because these things never happen at a good time, I ordered the one from Amazon
because it would get here the fastest.
Well, I installed the board. And the washer washes clothes again. But, it acts different with this no name board. I saw a few things online that even though this particular board is used in a lot of different brand washers, you have to program it for your particular model.
But, I can’t find any information on how to do that.
What it does now, is when you close the lid, you may have to go through the lift lid, push/start sequence a few times to get it to start. Doesn’t seem to have any pattern to it.
Once it starts, it’s fine. Though on the first couple of loads after repair, it seemed to skip over the spin cycle. Then that went away.
Is this just a case of you get what you pay for? Or is there something wrong with this “new” board?
If anybody has ran into this, or knows how to fix it, I would really appreciate the help.
Thanks!

Hi Jamie Svrcek, all GE products have personality codes, especially the newer ones. They need the correct code for the control board to work properly with the machine. If Amazon sells these boards, there may be some kind of programming method or bypass, but I’m not sure what that would be. I’m pretty sure your washer is acting up because it doesn’t recognize the new board.

Jose,
Thanks for replying. So, the only way to get the correct board is to buy it from GE?
Thanks,
Jamie

I would check with the seller on Amazon and see if there’s a way to program or configure the board you bought. If there isn’t, then yes, you’d probably be better off going with the OEM GE board so you know you’re getting the correct board to program
