GE Washer Banging hard during wash cycle

Brand:Ge
**Model Number:**GTWN42SØD1WS
Main Symptom:banging during wash cycle
What happens &

It doesn’t happen any other time other that when it’s in the wash cycle another words the back forth agitation BUT it’s hitting the tabs below the motor against a tab sticking up on the bottom framing. I just replaced the outer tub because bearing was leaking. Well I have no leak now but this thing is hitting so hard it is moving the washer sideways. I ordered new strain relief straps hoping this will fix it BUT I don’t think that going to fix it is there something else I’m missing. HELP!!!

The strain relief straps should help any sideways movement. Does the tub look like it is in the same position as it was before the tub job? Is it setting lower?

Everything is exactly the same after installing new tub. The only thing that changed is the banging. It was banging before I changed the tub. K so when I say banging the motor turns the sprocket counter clock wise. I managed to find this one on YouTube and this is exactly what mine is doing BUT mine spins fine and works fine except BUT like this one it banging so hard that is moves the washer

Let me know if the YouTube video works. Also what exactly does the wires going to the trans mission for and could that be the culprit.

Bump bump. Anynody??

Have you installed the straps yet?

No. Not yet they should be here today. Did you see the video. That exactly what mines doing When I took them off to change out tub they looked fine can they get stretched out?? Thank You for the reply I’m just trying get it fixed.

I looked at the video, which is a big-time jerk. I have seen straps stretched and broken. Did the video describe the issue as to what was wrong?

No it never described or gave info of the fix. So would the clutch/brake in the transmission cause this or what exactly does the wire do going to the transmission.

It also reminds me of a clutch that is grabbing, causing a hard jerking movement

That gives me a little insight that was what I was thinking about buying next a new transmission I’ll replace the straps tonight when I get home and try it again with the front cover off and video it. Either it will fix it or move on to new transmission.

Are you kidding me. installed the new relief straps tonight and ran it.

what a difference. So how long do these straps usually last before replacing them again?

Once again. Thank You Very Much for all the help

I am glad it fixed it. The longevity is going to depend on load size and usage.

Well after washing my uniforms for next week it worked like a champ so threw 3 towels and 2 wash clothes and it started making sound and weird noise thinking that maybe the load isn’t even so did a rebalance that didn’t help pulled the front cover off to see if I could see anything going on and once again it was leaking and that was a brand new tub seal. After $150 tied up in this washer and can’t trust not leaking everywhere. I bought a new washer yesterday.

It happens, they just don’t make things like they used to.
