I found a post on your forum that deals with my actual problem…our < 2 yr old GE washer will only spin slowly. The led light on the motor is flashing 9 times, which the tech told the previous poster was an “open brake resistor”, and that the motor would have to be replaced. He gave her instructions to try to clear the fault codes, and it worked for her, but did not for me. So I guess I’m down to having to replace the motor. I’ve never done that, but it looks fairly straightforward. It looks like I just unclip the electric lines in, undo some bolts, and pull the old one out. But I’ve been known to oversimplify repairs in the past, so I would just like to know if it really is that simple, or are there some things that I should know about before tackling this job, or should I just have a repairman come do it. Also, I couldn’t find this motor for sale on your website. Do you sell it, or will I need to go to GE to get it? Thanks for your help!
You model number isnt complete get it off the machine Yes you are correct it’s simple. to get it out make sure the tranny is on the flat side not oblong side by rotating it by hand and lay the motor down then pull it out with clutch facing you slap the new one in pull the motor back with belt installed tighten nuts
I could only find one model starting with WLRR5000, but there isn’t a breakdown of the machine on this site. That being said by looking up the model number on one of my parts suppliers your motor part number is AP4355669 from this site.

Sorry I’m stupid, but I don’t understand the instructionsr re: making sure where the tranny is and rotating it. BTW, the complete model # is WLRR5000G0WW. Anyway, when I took off the front cover I’m looking right at the motor in the front. There’s a belt that goes back to a wheel, which has a spindle that goes up to the tub. As I said, as far as I could tell, all I would need to do is unclip the electric lines and unbolt the motor. I know there’s got to be more to it, but I’m not sure what the tranny is, how to determine whether it’s on the flat side or oblong side (or even on the side of what?), and laying the motor down. Sorry for being an idiot, but like I said I’ve never done this before. Thanks a bunch for your time and help!
if the transmission is in a position the motor wont clear it to fanagle it out is all I’m saying you’ll figure it out I was trying to let you know that when you remove the motor it wont clear picking it straight up because of the clutch the only way it will come out is by picking it up to clear the baseplate then laying the motor on its back then bringing it out the front well if the transmission is blocking it it wont lay on its back it will hit the gearcase so you have to spin the tranny by hand till it does
