Ge spectra electric stove… We had our power turned off and our outside box replaced. Now my stove doesn’t work. The display is dark, buttons don’t work, light doesn’t work, and oven won’t turn on… The display remains dark.
Here’s the confusing part… When I turn on a burner, however, the clock flashes and sets, the light works, and I can set temp on oven. Now, during this entire time nothing heats up because no heating elements glow.
When I turn off all controls, the display goes dark and nothing works until I turn a burner control again.
Sounds like a wiring problem.
Since you have had the panel replaced that is probably where the problem is.
What is happening is that you are missing the L1 side of the line at the stove.
This is the side of the line that usually runs the control board and lights.
When you turn on a surface element L2 is switched in and now the control board sees that voltage and starts up.
Try flipping the breaker off/on slowly a couple times, sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker.
If this does nothing, check the voltage at the plug
L1 to L2 should be 240 volts
L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral, both should be 120 volts.
If OK
Unplug the unit and check the wires at the terminal strip in the machine to make sure none are loose or burned out
If OK
Check the power at the terminal strip.
