GE Spacemaker XL1800

Recently bought a house that has a 2004 Spacemaker XL1800 (Model: JVM1870BF02) microwave oven that has an inoperable glass turntable. I searched some of the older posts but mine doesn’t “spin” freely as I have read. It turns in both directions but there is resistance in both.

Are parts readily available for this unit? What part of the drive mechanism is damaged? How can I restore the microwave to original operating condition?

Thanks in advance!

Any help here guys…?

One last bump…if not, guess I’m living with no turntable.

Any help out there?

Hello.

You have to determine which part failed.

Take the bottom cover off, disconnect the plug from the turn table motor and using the multimeter check voltage stated on the name tag of the motor.

If there is no voltage - bad control board.

If you are reading voltage , check the motor for continuity.

No continuity - replace the motor.

Continuity present - take two screws out, drop the motor down and remove the coupler out (from inside the cavity).

If it’s bad - replace it.

The turn table motor AP2024962

The coupler AP2016754
