My GE side by side has been acting up on the refrigerator side .The temperature in the refrigerator side is around 29 - 31 F . and the freezer side around -3 to -7 and setting is on 5 (default)on both sides
I have changed the damper on the upper left side of the refrigerator with USED part (the damper’s gasket was partially torn up) and it never fixed the problem(is there any way to test this damper to know if it’s good or bad? ) .i was checking the mother board in the back ,I took the cover off and found water condensates around where the board is which was absolutely weired to me .
I’m lost right now and don’t know if it’s the board or the damper or thermistor or what.BTW,i did the continuity test between the blue connector and the next white connector as described here and checked closed i.e the heater and thermostat are ok? and i noticed something else ,the light bulb in the freezer side is flickering ,if this has any significance !!
Any input is appreciated
Thank you guys
These are high resistance circuits for temp control. I would leave the cover off the motherboard and put a fan on it. Check later if temperature goes up.
Thanks Richappy,
Actually i left the Motherboard uncovered over the night and i can’t see the condensation no more but i found something else which is quite strange>> one of the wireshttp://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z370/Alaa_Hamdy/2011-11-04_14-32-43_91.jpgwhich color is white/yellow is split and it looks like somebody did that i mean it’s not corroded or anything ..and the problem is still there 28-31 F in the fridge side and -5 to - 2 today even on the lowest Setting on both sides ..
and do you think that Damper gasket being torn up may be a problem coz with my damper i didn’t buy a new one ,I just bought a used one taken off an old one
I would change the fresh food thermistor, AP3185407, probably part of the damper door harness.
Also, verify the damper door is not jammed open. You can allways unplug it(make sure the thermistor is not unpluged), jam the door half way open, and see if the temperatures go down to normal levels.
Thank you Richappy ,
I ordered the part and waiting for it .I will check back here when i install it ,hope it works
Thank you,Man
Hi Richappy,
I have replaced the damper assembly including the thermistor and the problem is still there freezing the refrigerator side .where do you think the problem is now ? any ideas?
Thank you
I would check for an ice clog on the freezer coils or a lint clog in the condenser coils in the back. Your freezer temperature should be a bit colder for a fridg running a lot.
