I brought the GE WR55X10942 Refrigerator Main Control Board, and I am getting ready to install it, it saids to eliminate thermistor wire in pin 2 of J1 connector for any encoder models that starts with a serial number prefixes of TD2, my serial number is TD 201598, but my refrigerator is not a bottom freezer, do I still need to cut the second wire?
Please somebody help me!
I had the same situation and installed it the first time without cutting the wire. The exchange from the freezer to the fridge didn’t work so I had to dig a little deeper.
I found a definition of Encoder on a different site saying that the encoder model uses turn-dial controls instead of a push button or digital mechanism for setting the temperature.
I went back in, said a quick prayer, cut the wire, crossed my fingers and plugged it in. Cold air blowing into the fridge now. Very happy. The instructions from GE should be clearer on this for sure. I hope this helps and good luck.
