GE refrigerator does not make ice

I have a GE side by side. It was making ice up until 2 days ago it started to make a bunch of noise.I saw that the green light was flashing.
I turned it off and noticed that the tube that sends water to the ice maker was frozen and the shut-off arm was frozen. I thawed out the freezer and removed the stuck ice, checked to be sure that the shut-off arm moved. I turned the ice maker switch back on, now I have a solid green light but I do not have ice nor do I have water flow to the ice tray. I would be most grateful if someone could please help me sort this out::confused: . I have water coming out of the door dispenser

Thank you for your help in advance,
Jack

If you know for sure that the water tube is clear where the water comes into the icemaker, it will either be the icemaker or the water valve. That’s it. If the tube is frozen again, you need a new water valve. Sometimes to check, you can unplug the refrigerator, and pull the water valve out and remove the wires from the solonoids, and reverse them, so when you hit the water to come out in the glass, if the valve is good, the water will come out in the icemaker. If not, replace the valve. If so, replace the icemaker. Tom Appliance Educator, Appliance Parts, Washer and Dryer Parts, Refridgerator and Freezer Parts, Stove and Oven Parts

Kayakcrzy,
Thank you for your help. I know this sounds weird, but I rhawed it out again and it made ice this morning. If it happens again I will switch solenoid wires first.:o

Actually if cleaned the ice out of the fill tube, and the ice maker works. When it quits, and freezes up in the tube again, get a new water valve. That will do!!! Tom. Appliance Educator, Appliance Parts, Washer and Dryer Parts, Refridgerator and Freezer Parts, Stove and Oven Parts
