I have a 2001 gts22 wc GE refrigerator that the compressor has stopped working, I have tested the startup relays on the compressor as well as the compressor for resistance. All of the other fans and evaporator fans seem to be working as well. I seem to think that the problem is the control panel but am not sure. The control panel visually looks ok with no burn marks on it, but I am unsure how to test this. When I turn the power on to the unit, the control panel makes a single clicking noise. Can anyone tell me if this is normal and if there are any other things to test on this unit to diagnose the problem and see if it is indeed the control board before I order a replacement board. Thanks - Steve
Pull the motherboard (WR55X10942) cover and remove the 3 pin power connector on the bottom. Place a wire jumper in the connector between the mating pins marked line and comp. on the board. Plug in fridg. If the compressor runs, you have a bad
motherboard.
Thanks for the reply and assistance , I pulled the wires and jumped the compressor and it started right up . My only concern is that this could be a problem with the defrost timer or defrost heater and not the board. Can you let me know the best way to trouble shoot these components before I order the board. Thanks again very much !
Look carefully at the back of the motherboard, if no bad solder joints under the big power relay, order a new board.
