My dishwashwer does not drain. I checked the hose that runs to the garbage disposal, and that isn’t clogged. I removed the lower sprayer arm and ran a rinse cycle.. still won’t drain. I tried the rinse/restart option… still won’t drain.
I can’t remove the sump filter. It just won’t come out and I don’t want to break it. The bottom screen won’t come off without first removing the sump filter. I don’t feel anything in the filter but water.
Short of taking the whole thing apart, which I’m loath to do, I’ve run out of ideas other than calling a repair man. I’ve also noticed that my particular dishwasher model has been discontinued.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks!
Hello shdwlker,
Something you may want to try looking at is the air gap and hose, if you have one. The top is located on the sink and comes off where there is a threaded top that unscrews. Occasionally an object will collect right at the opening.
If there is not something there, you can remove the hose from under the sink where it connects to the air gap and drain it into a container and that will remove anything in the hose.
The dishwasher can then be started to “drain”.
If this does not work, then please e-mail us back at eResponse@ge.com attn. Wendy and we will look at some other things.
Regards, Wendy
I tried unclogging that hose but I don’t see a " DRAIN" option. I am so pissed!! My ge ice maker on the fridge sucks and now this!!!
I had same problem. Hose was fine. I pulled out the dishwasher, turned off the breaker and looked underneath on the back side. The drain pump is held together with three screws. I took those off and out came a Lego. It was jamming the pump impeller. Note that the original problem I had was that the dishwasher wasn’t draining but I could hear the pump trying to drain the machine. If you hear no pump or humming sound, you might have another issue. Good luck!
