GE Profile washer disassembly

My washer leaks water from the bottom. I removed the front & top panel, and balance ring. The agitator pulled right off. I am trying to remove the inner basket to get to the tub seal (I watched water slowly drip from the center seal). My question(s) are:
1. How do I remove the inner tub? 2. To remove the inner tub hub, do I remove the hub nut? (it looks like there is a smaller nut or washer inside the hub nut). Since I have the covers off, I would like to replace the tub seal and associated parts. Thanks very much.

You will need a special spanner wrench to get the nut off. It’s a left hand thread so turn the nut clockwise.Lots of times they freeze up on the hub and you have to chisel them off. Good luck, I have one in the junkyard I could never get off even with a cold chisel and a lot of pounding.

Thanks much, Rich. You’re right, it is definitely frozen on. Actually, I did not even need to take off the hub. My whole problem was a worn belt which slipped and let the inner tub turn around when agitating. Purchased a new belt, got it tight, and washer works great. I just have to keep reminding myself — something I already know very well ---- always look for the simplest solution FIRST…
