Hey Mike, being that it will spin and not agitate, that points to the shift actuator being my number one suspect. The actuator does exactly what it says it does: it shifts the gearcase from spin to agitate. WH03X31937 Mode Shifter | Genuine Ge OEM In Stock

Understood.

One last question before I get that part…

I removed the wash plate to see if the splines were stripped. They appear to be in good shape (although the rubber washer underneath is totally disintegrated)

I noticed when I put the wash plate back on the shaft 2/3 of the way and turn it, the splines catch the shaft and I can rotate the entire drum.

But when I drop the wash plate ALL the way onto the shaft the splines no longer catch and the wash plate spins freely with no drum movement.

Could this be a wash plate issue? How can the splines catch when I lift the wash plate about an inch but not catch when it is lowered back down into its proper position?
