GE PVM9179DK2
The large fan on the side of the oven, (pretty sure it’s for convection, not the small one behind the control panel nor the heavy duty rotary exhaust fan) runs constantly, other than when the door is open, regardless of whether the stove is in operation.
This five year old machine is otherwise fine. Originally I suspected the two thermostat/switches on the bottom just behind the control panel–they test okay and have different functions, but I suspect there might be another one somewhere else that I can’t locate and which might be the culprit. I checked the door switches too, and they’re okay.
I hope this is something OTHER than the (expensive) control board!
Well, good thing I didn’t use WD-40, then, and thanks for the caution!
I DID however spray some contact cleaner into the (well-labeled) relay, after carefully drilling a 1/16" hole, but unfortunately the behavior hasn’t changed.
I think de-soldering and replacing it isn’t beyond my capabilities, but I think that sourcing an identical replacement relay is gonna be tough!
Thanks again for all your help!
(next day…)
Hey! Today it’s stopped running! Have to see whether that’s still the case after I next use it on Convection–I’m in no hurry and am enjoying the peace now with the door closed.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the contact cleaner eventually did its job…
