The gate shaft seal (diagram #417) is leaking on the pump housing. The leaking water has corroded the solenoid which I have fixed. Can a new seal really fix this problem? It apprears the shaft has some movement in it which may be the reason the seal failed. Seals are cheap and the push nut (diagram #415), but not sure if it will work. Thanks for any help.
You will need to pull out the pump and take off the solenoid bracket, then dig out the bad seal and replace it AP2038837
You mention dig out the bad seal. I’m preparing to do the exact task with part # AP2038837. Any trick to “digging” out the bad seal?
Thanks for any info.

You can try just sticking the new “O” ring in on top of the old seal, if no go, try a tiny screw driver to dig it out.
Thanks, I have a new seal and Push-on nut on order from APP. Sounds like digging it out really means dig it. Removing the push-on-nut is similar? Is the push on nut simply a friction fit? EGH
I just don’t want to create futher damage to the area I’m trying to seal.
Thanks again
