GE Profile Ignitor

Brand:GE Profile
Model Number:JGB928SEKSS
Main Symptom:Slow to ignite and heat up
What happens & when: Ignitor went on range. Contacted appliance service “company” that replaced ignitor for oven and broiler. I requested GE OEM parts (WB13X2561 and WB13K21) but they installed no name ignitors that they had to rig to work. Boiler ignitor they cut off connection and simply stuck wires into the connecting socket. Broiler turned on for tech but after he left broiler would not turn on.I pulled out range to find wires loosely stuck into connector. Oven ignitor was serviced be a different tech who spliced wire to connect ignitor to existing wiring. Oven turned on while tech was at house. Experimented with oven and noticed that oven would take 30 seconds to ignite and it would ignite with a poof (like gas BQ) and oven took 8 minutes to heat up to 200 degrees. I have ordered a new ignitor for the broiler. Question would installing the wrong ignitor cause oven to be slow to start and slow to hear up? Oven is 20 years old. Is it just the ignitor or is more going on? Advise appreciated. Thank You

I think that is a first for me. Obviously, that is not the way to do it. I have no problem splicing wires together and using wire nuts to protect the splice. The poof sound sometimes comes from the gas burner if there is a large hole in the burner tub, it lets more gas into the burner than is necessary and it can cause that noise. If the new igniter doesn’t take care of the situation, replace the gas valve.
