I have a GE Profile Dual Convection Oven and recently when you open the door when the oven is in convection mode, the fan doesn’t shut off. We can also detect a slight burning smell not related to food. Could this be a switch (door plunger) issue? Any help would be appreciated.

Still looking for some help with this! Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!
Hi,
I have this exact same problem with my GE Profile Dual Convection oven. Were you able to repair the problem? If so, how? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

We had a repairman out today who replaced a control board and said the oven was fixed. I guess there was a relay on the board that got welded shut. Well I got home tonight and tried it out and nothing had changed. The fan still runs when you open the door and we are getting a burning smell again. We got the burning smell originally when this issue started. It is kind of like an electrical burning smell. Not food burning smell. So, clearly there was a problem as the relay was “toast” but I am guessing there is still something wrong - or at least another issues in addition to the relay on the board.
Thanks for the reply. I have the same problem. Convection fan spins very fast and I smell a definite electrical burning smell. Fan does not shut off when door is opened either.
I haven’t called a repair man yet. I’m a stubborn electrical engineer and always try to fix things myself first (mostly because I’m cheap too).
