My GE Profile bottom freezer is not staying cold. It had warmed to 23F but when I turned on the turbo cool it has now cooled down to 20F. I understand from other posts about different model numbers that turbo cool is the same fan but it runs at a different speed and continuously. Is the only solution to this problem replacing the main board? I don’t really want to leave it on turbo cool forever just to keep the freezer cold.
If the compressor is running constantly.
You may want to pull the evaporator covers and take a look at the coils.
Also make sure the condenser coils under the machine are clean and that the fan is running.
If the coils are heavily ice up you have a defrost problem.
If coils only frosted up near the input line from the compressor you may have a low freon issue. This may be covered by warranty as it is part of the sealed system.
Look in the back of the freezer, close to the bottom, and see if you have a frost build up, on the back wall. If so, what you need to do is take the back panel off, and ohm the heater. If the heater is good, replace the motherboard. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
More than likely it is the main board that’s bad, but the other problems we see on this fridge is bad evaperator thermister, bad defrost termination thermostats, condenser fan motors, and the main board.
Hello to everyone. After searching through the forum and finding out some useful information I am needing to get some input on my problem. My fridge just stopped cooling today and upon inspection I found the condenser motor not working. I checked the voltage and found 11.8 volts. I seen where most people have replaced the motherboard because of numerous failures and was wanting to find out my options with this. I wanted to include my mod and ser numbers to the appliance techs so maybe they could tell me if the board would be covered in the free replacement I’ve read about. Also, if anyone knows have there been any changes made to the condenser motors as far as an alternate replacement or am I just stuck paying over 100 bucks for this thing? Thanks a million for the help, I love it when things break on Friday evening. Model #-PFS22MISWW Serial#-RH051543 Thanks again.
I was reading a similar thread where you were able to find out if the board on the back of the fridge would be a free replacement or not. I have had the fridge for less than 3 years. The serial is lh042809 and the model is pfs22sisass. Any and all help trying to figure this out would be greatly appreciated.
