GE Profile Microwave with built in convection oven. Model PEB1590SM2SS
Microwave is ON, display looks normal, responds normally to input BUT…
upon pressing START the microwave makes a soft thump sound and nothing happens other than the
light comes on. Carousel does not turn, fan does not blow, and no indication that microwaves
are being produced (not really sure about this tho).
There was no warning. Microwave worked one minute earlier. Then just stopped.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

$5.50 door switch. Found the solution on YouTube. Not my exact oven model but they must all look similar on the inside because I had no trouble figuring it out.
(Fix for microwave that lights up but no heat, buzzing or spinning)
FYI…Never open the microwave door without either turning it OFF or letting the timer turn it off. If you open the door while it’s running that tiny door switch takes all the electrical load and might/will burn up eventually. My wife and I don’t usually make that error but I know I have a time or two. My door opens with a mechanical push button so occasionally I mess up and open the door while the oven is cooking.
Saved a 13 yo $600 microwave/convection oven that matches the kitchen and fits INSIDE the cabinetry perfectly with a trim kit. Was very hard to find and not looking forward to that again. So for now, we’re good!
