**Main Symptom:**The unit was giving me an FTD error. However, I let it sit for a little bit and all of a sudden, even with the door open, it started draining. Then it seems to be kind of behaving erratically.
Now it is trying to drain, beeping at me, draining, beeping, then it filled, then drained, etc.
Is that the main board maybe? This is all happening while the door is not even latched. What happens & when:

Based on what you’re describing, I do think the main control board is a strong possibility, but I’d recommend ruling out a few things first since the dishwasher is responding even with the door open.
On this model, the door switch should stop the dishwasher from running any wash functions when the door is unlatched. If it’s filling and draining with the door open, one of these is usually happening:
Test the door latch/switch assembly first.
A failed or shorted door switch can make the control think the door is closed.
With the power disconnected, remove the inner door panel and test the door switch for continuity with a multimeter. It should only have continuity when the latch is fully engaged.
Also inspect the latch and wiring harness for loose or damaged connections.
Run the dishwasher’s service diagnostics.
On GE models like yours, you can usually enter Consumer Error Mode by pressing and holding Cycle Select + Start for about 5 seconds (or the button combination listed on the tech sheet located behind the toe kick or inside the door). The stored fault codes can provide valuable clues before replacing any parts.
If the FTD (Failed to Drain) error was the original problem, inspect the drain system.
Check the drain pump for obstructions.
Verify the drain hose isn’t kinked or clogged.
Make sure the sink air gap or garbage disposal connection isn’t plugged.
If the door switch and drain system both test good, then the main control board becomes the most likely culprit.
A failing control can behave erratically, repeatedly energizing the drain pump, filling unexpectedly, ignoring door switch inputs, and continuously beeping.
A couple of questions that will help narrow it down:
Does the display actually show FTD, or is it another code such as FTD/FTD in service mode?
If you unplug the door switch from the control, does the drain pump still start on its own when power is restored?
Has the dishwasher had any recent water leaks or signs of moisture around the control board or door harness?
Those answers should tell us pretty quickly whether you’re dealing with a failed door latch assembly, a wiring issue, or a bad main control board.
Another clue is that we had some power outages yesterday on and off. I’m going to lean toward it being the board and that power killed it. I’m going to order the board now and see what happens when I install the new one.
