GE Front Loader Stops Mid-Cycle

Hi,

I’m hoping to get some help troubleshooting my washer problem, so here goes…

The last couple weeks my washer has stopped intermittently (it only happens sometimes) mid cycle. It stops at different points in the cycle: some times it’s after the wash cycle (where it does nothing), other times it gets stuck in what sounds like the drain cycle (where it drains and drains and drains). Advancing the cycle knob a little bit returns the washer to normal operation. It appears to only happen in the cottons cycle; the quick wash cycle works fine.

I was pretty sure it was the timer knob, but then I read a bunch of stuff on the internet about clogged drain filters causing washers to stop working. My drain pump doesn’t have a filter, but I removed it and the rubber manifold that connects the tub to the drain pump and cleaned them. OH MY GOD THAT WAS NASTY! There was black slime and hard water deposits and it smelled like a sewer, but I put it all back together and the problem persists.

So my question is: is there any more troubleshooting I need to do before I spend two bills on this? GE WH12X10157 Timer-Wash - AppliancePartsPros.com

Try calling GE directly. Ge’s newer front loaders in the past 5 years have had multiple problems in relations to the problem you’re having and alot of times it’s a multiple part issue. Try and find the tech sheet inside the unit it should be taped down below along the wall. Get it into diagnostic mode and see if there’s any codes stored inside the unit then reasearch the codes in that sheet. Contact GE and see if you have any recall parts or advice on there issues or to have a qualified GE service appliance repairman in your area to check it out. These units can be a headache for the average person to figure out. Note to self when buying any type of appliances now of days always purchase an extended warranty through the store you bought it from or you can get extended warranties through the manufacture as well.
