Hello,
My Ge front loader started to smoke while the machine is in the spin cycle. I have notice that there is a burn mark on the gasket and it has burnt threw some parts of the gasket. I have check to see if there is something that is stuck between the gasket and the basket. I have found nothing. Looking for suggestions of what could cause this or if anybody has seen this in the past. Thanks for your help with this.

Karl[/quote]http://www.geappliances.com/products/recall/washer_2010/. My GE front load is almost doing the samething your is. When i stop the washer and open the door smoke was coming out. I took the back off and saw the smoke was not coming form there. I have my GE warrenty and will call them to come out and check and see what the problem is. When they get done i will post what they found and repaired.
