Model Number:GFW550SSN1WW
Main Symptom:Won’t complete a cycle
What happens & when:

Error Code (if any):H2O Supply
Parts or tests already tried:Replaced Water Inlet Valve

Is the washer putting in water before the H2O code pops up or do you start the cycle and nothing happens? What all does the washer actually do when you try starting a cycle?

I replaced the water inlet valve because the washer squealed when the water entered the machine. Otherwise the washer worked fine. I ordered and replaced the water inlet valve and the squealing noise stopped but the washer will not finish a cycle.
I have attempted 2 loads:

  1. Normal Cycle (Cold water) 2. Quick Wash (Warm water).
    Both attempts went as follows:
Washer filled and completed wash cycle and spin.
Then when the washer calls for rinse (at that exact moment) there is a thump and error code “H2O Supply”. I have checked both Hot & Cold supply lines both flowing nicely and no kinks in hoses. Also checked the 4 lines inside from the inlet valve and no kinks.

Stopping at rinse usually means an issue with the cold valve since rinse is always cold. With you already having replaced the valve WH23X29538 that leaves us at either a bad valve assembly out of the box or the control board. That thump kinda leans me towards the valve. Rinse is cold only, where as fill uses cold and hot regardless of the selected temperature.

I’m attaching the tech sheet for this model, run the valve tests in the field service mode to see if one of the valves isn’t opening.

I think your diagnosis of a faulty cold valve in the new water valve unit (out of the box) is correct. I ran the field service test and the cold water valve failed (Hot water passed fine).

Just to support the diagnosis - I put the old water valve back in and it worked great
completing a full cycle (and it didn’t even make the squealing sounds when water filled).
I would still like to install a new water valve. Please let me know the procedure for returning the faulty valve and exchanging for a new one.
Thanks for your help.
