GE front load washer pauses itself

I am having 3 problems with my front load washer and I’m not sure if they are related.

  1. For a while now the clothes have been smelling like mildew after washed. I have tried the washer cleaner and bleach and nothing seems to work.

  2. My washer pauses itself all the time. Usually when it comes to the spin cycle. I have to hit the button to unpause it 2-4 times per cycle and if I don’t get to it within about 10 minutes it turns itself off all together.

  3. It doesn’t drain properly. The clothes will either be soaked and have 2-3 inches of water left in the washer or I have to keep putting it on the drain and spin cycle over and over.

Please help, I have twin infants and have way too much laundry to spend a half a day on each load.

Problems 1 and 3 may be a clogged drain line in the hoses leading to or from the pump, or something blocking the pump. Clean things out and see if that fixes the problem.

Problem 2 sounds like a control unit problem, but see what happens after you clean out the drain hoses and pump, That may fix everything.

If you need more info post a model number and tell us what you found out after checking the hoses and pump.
