Brand: GE Model Number: GFW850SPN5RS Main Symptom: multiple lock error codes and washer will not start. What happens & when:
I replaced the lock as I tested the pins and got no resistance, and the manual plunger was not operational; I had to pry the door open. I installed the new lock and it was fried almost immediately and I smelled burnt wires.
I tested the lock wires voltage at the board, it was nominal at 120v. I tested the voltage at the lock end of the wire harness and was only getting 23 volts during live call for lock (service code 13). I’m guessing the harness is bad but wanted to confirm with someone here before proceeding. Thanks.
Error Code (if any): 24, 32, and 92

Based on the fault codes you’re getting, I would start by checking the door lock system first.
Verify the door is closing completely and locking properly.
Run Service Mode Spin Test 14 to verify the door lock operates correctly.
Run Service Mode Test 13 (Door Switch Test) to make sure the control detects the door as open when opened and closed when closed.
Check that nothing is blocking the door lock latch.
Check door switch continuity at the main control board connector J513.
Inspect the wiring harness from J513 on the main board to the door lock assembly for any damaged wires or poor connections.
If everything checks out, replace the door lock assembly.
For fault codes 33, 34, 41-51, 66-74, 83, and 92 (Inverter Fault):
Run Service Mode Spin Test 14 all the way through. If it completes successfully, no further action is needed.
Check for 102-132 VAC at the main board J101 and the inverter board J101.
Inspect all inverter board connectors (J101, J301, J401, and J502) to make sure they’re fully seated and free of damage.
Measure the resistance of each motor phase winding and compare the readings to the resistance table in the tech sheet. Replace the motor if any winding is out of specification.
If all of those tests pass and the fault remains, replace the inverter board.
From my experience, once you’ve verified or replaced the door lock and confirmed the wiring harness is good, the inverter board is almost always the culprit when these inverter fault codes continue to return.
