Our GE Profile dishwasher has been getting louder and louder for a while. It’s almost 5 years old. The noise comes & goes while it’s running. It sounds like a loud rumbling sound. Kinda like a rock tumbler.
I suspected those wings or blades that spray the water being loose. They spin free and have some wobble but I dont see any way to tighten them.
Also, it’s beginning to leave some soap in the dispensor when its done. That seems weird.

Some wobble is normal. There is no way to tighten them.

It is not pumping the water properly so it just is not spraying enough at the soap dispenser to flush out the soap.
Remove the center cover in the unit and check for debris in the sump.
Could also be that it is not filling to the correct level, unit will then suck air through the pump, cavitate and make a growling noise.
Most units fill to just under the heating element.
One way to check is stop it after a fill and check the level.
Also can add a couple quarts of water if the growl reduces frequency or disappears then low fill is the probable cause.
If above applies
Probably the screen filter on the input side of the water valve is partially plugged.
Remove the valve and clean the screen.
Do not remove it, it is there to keep crud out of the valve, which could hold it open and cause a flood.
Also a good idea to drain some water out of your hot water tank. Let it run till the water is clear.
How do I get to the filter? Do I have to pull the unit out of its happy home and get to the back side?
Thanks
Again, great site. I love the schematic and parts pages. I’m a service rep who works on office machines. I’m going to show your site to our SME (subject matter expert) guy and see if we can re-do our parts books in this format.
