GE Dishwasher gsd5120 does not drain

Hey,

My dishwasher does not drain reliably. I have read Dishwasher Not Draining Repair Guide and pulled out the piston valve. It is obviously old, but it does hold water when tested.

I could not find a solenoid.

What advice have you for this particular appliance?

Remove the sump cover from inside the tub.
And check that it does not have stuff in it. Also check that there is nothing wrapped around the chopper.
Be careful as there is often broken glass in the sump.
Also take note of how the internal baffle goes in. Re-install it wrong and the chopper will eat it.

Looks like the unit does not use a wash/drain solenoid.
If there was one it would be attached to the motor/pump assembly on the left side kick panel end.

Check the drain hose for partial clogs. A common place is where the drain hose attaches to the house plumbing.
