GE dishwasher - Clunking noise when running

Hi All, hope you can help me. I started running it yesterday, and I heard a clunking noise occurring at the same frequency. I thought that the water jets were hitting some unstable object. Emptied it and reran it, same noise. So I check the rotating arms. The top one is fine, but the lower one has play in it. To be more specific, it has vertical play in it, I can lift it about 1/2 in. Is that normal? I know that that is where the noise is coming from. Any help will be appreciated.

[QUOTE=Simon / APP Team;735044]Hi.

Most likely it’s not the wash arm.
Check the filter sump #508 at diagram#1 and inlet sump#505 at diagram#4 for any small objects (Pits, bones,etc.)

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for General Electric GLD6860N00SS Dishwasher | AppliancePartsPros.com

Good luck. Post the results.

Hi Thanks, I don’t 505 on diagram 4

Hi.

Remove the coarse filter#502 on diagram#4. You will see the sump.
