Gas dryer, electronic display. 15 years old. New belt. Cleaned out lint. All looks in order.

Ordered rear drum bearing kit. Will replace front glides too. Oiling the rear bearing sleeve stopped the problem but I understand lubrication isn’t needed when the sleeve is ok?

Also…what’s the likelihood the belt pulley is shot?

All help much appreciated!

Jim

Hey Jim, in your case, the belt tension roller would be my number 1 suspect. You don’t have drum rollers, and the rear bearing typically squeaks. When you get to it, it should be pretty obvious. Ok, David. Thank you. Yes, after reading more posts it seems that could be it. Weird, though. It’s been intermittent. It’s quiet now but the rumbling could start at anytime.

After I do replacements of the bearing, sleeve, guides and idler pully, there’s not much left to try…am I correct?

Jim.

Belt tension roller and plastic drum bearing sleeve replaced. All is back to normal and quiet now. The belt roller was disformed in the center where it attached to the tension bracket but not terribly. Time will tell if the repair is effective. Thank you, David, for the tip!
