Main Symptom: gasket for oven light no longer available
What happens & when: Is it safe to use without the gasket or is there an alternative fire resistive caulk that can be used? This is a fabric gasket (Whirlpool OEM Part Mfr# 7201P015-60 - no longer available) that goes behind the cover plate that holds the lens cover for the oven light. While removing in order to replace the burnt out bulb, it came apart even though the cover plate came off easily. I’m guessing the material is asbestos or fiberglass and has some fire resistive properties so am wondering if a fire resistive caulk can be used in its place or is the gasket even necessary. Thank you.
