Gas valve

The range top gas burners work. When oven is turned on, Two clicks is heard but no lighting occurs. The broiler and the oven itself do not work. Could this be the main gas valve and if I replace is there anything else that is needed to be done? Re-program of oven or anything of that nature. Thank you for your help. Chris

Chris,

You may want to start the troubleshooting from the gas valve/regulator. You can find the instructions in one of our previous threads: http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/13139-whirlpool-oven-wont-heat-up.html

Hi Gene,
I just bought this gas valve/regulator (AP3866825) from ApplicancePartsPros. Do you know the partnumber for the gas coupling that will be compatible with it, so I can connect it to the main gas line?
Thanks,
Pierre

Pierre,

The best solution is to use this part from the old gas valve/regulator.

There are no part numbers for a such part in the parts list.

The other solution is to take the old part together with the coupling to a nearest hardware store.

Hi Gene,
I was actually planning to re-use the gas coupling but I just can’t take it off from the old one. It’s like super stuck to the old one with the joint compound on it. I just thought of buying a new one. But since I attached it back to the oven because we still need it for the top burners to work, I don’t have anything to show the hardware, hence the partnumber request.
Anyway, if you have cool ideas to loosen the coupling, I would appreciate that too.
Thanks,
Pierre

Pierre,

I used a powerful vice grip and a pipe wrench. Good luck.
