Gas valve or coil Kit

Hello,

My dryer starts a new cycle ok. Later the flame turns off. I think this is normal and the thermastat watches the temperature. When the flame is supposed to turn back on, it will for maybe the first couple cycles but later doesn’t. Currently, I am measuring the blue and whit wires on the secondary coil. After the ignighter turns on, the flame sensor closes and I measure 120v on the secondary coil (blue to white). The primary coil is blu, whit and black. I am assuming that the black goes hot since it is the same electrical connection as the ignighter and I can see the ignighter glow. During the flame cycle I see the voltage between white and blue stays at 120v when the ignighter turns on and the flame sensor sees the flame the voltage drops to ~ .4v but no flame. The ignighter turns off, the voltage goes back to 120 but no flame. Can some one help me please?

Thanks,
JD

Hi.

When the gas fails to open remove the connectors from the coils and check the continuity at the both of them.
Most likely you need to replace the coils..

Thank you. Post the results.

Thanks Simon,

The small coil measured ~ 1300ohms but after 12 minutes of use the coil would open up. I forgot the measurement on the other coil but I do remember it never varied and once I caught the other one opening up, I replaced the two coils together that Appliance Parts Pros FedEx’ed to me and now my dryer is fixed!

Best of luck,
JD

You are very welcome.
