Gas oven bottom burner not working on gas stove

I have a tappan gas oven model mgf 355bgwb. the top burners work fine,the broiler works fine but the oven will not heat up.The ignter turns a pretty bright orange but not really a white orange . I tried to lite it with a match on the holes but it would not lite. Is a match able to lite it? Does it sound like its the ignter?
