Replaced oven igniter which was broken and the oven does work heats up and turns on, but sometimes it does not turn on right away and there is a smell of escaping gas. The F2 is still showing up on the control panel. Could it be that I need to bend the igniter to be closer to the oven burner or could it be another part that needs replacing. Thanks for your help.![]()
Usually delayed ignition is caused by a weak igniter or an obstructed burner tube. Since the igniter is new, we can safely assume it is not the issue. So, letβs have a look at the burner tube, shown as number 10 in the picture below. Use a stiff bristled brush to clean around and inside the holes, especially around the area where the igniter is mounted. Does the ignition improve?

Sorry for the delay in my reply, tried the bristle brush did not fix the problem. Still getting the glow of the new igniter but oven is not lighting, only leaking gas. In order to get the burner tube lite, I have had to use a lighter to turn it on. Could the new igniter be defective.
